Here at Schwan's Company, we put a high priority on having safe, clean, and healthy workspacesAnd we want individuals that take that seriouslyWe are hiring a Refrigeration Supervisor for our manufacturing facility in Florence, KYThis position is a Monday-Friday role, responsible for leading directing and coordinating the refrigeration department to optimize performance with regard to safety productivity and qualityThis position is also responsible for supporting compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP)Someone in this role ideally can:
Direct the maintenance and preventive maintenance of all production machinery and any building maintenance needsSupervise technical maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and the repair of ammonia refrigeration equipment including vessels, evaporators, condensers, pumps, motors, compressors, valves, and other refrigeration equipmentManage the food safety sanitation, quality, and security of the food products producedComply with the EPA's Risk Management Program Regulation of a hazardous Chemical facility (Process Safety Management, System Management, Hazard Assessment, Emergency Response program, Risk Management Plans, Hazard Analysis, and Offsite Consequence strategies)Contact and coordinate external service agencies as appropriate to schedule refrigeration repair work and ensure timely and effective work order completionPerform inspections and preventative maintenance as required by PSM schedulesBe responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems (both Ammonia and Freon) Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limitsInterface with state and federal government agencies as requiredConfer with operators and observe test and evaluate operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctionsDisassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairsEnsure all ammonia safety equipment is up to dateComply with Safety Programs to ensure protection of employees and propertySupervise train and develop subordinatesEnsure nightly use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to bump caps, safety glasses/goggles, face shields, face masks, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalentBachelor's degree preferredMinimum of 3 years related experience; Ammonia Refrigeration experience required Must have knowledge and skills in the technologies of general construction, electrical systems, electronic systems, microprocessors, mechanical systems (e.
gproduction/process refrigeration boilers HVAC hydraulics and pneumatics), and computerized maintenance management systemsWorking knowledge of food plant production and processing equipment preferredKnowledge of occupational hazards, safety knowledge of PSM & OSHA safety regulations, and EPA regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferredMust have previous supervisor experienceBasic PC skills including expertise with MS Office and OutlookSAP experience is beneficialExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have basic mathematical and problem-solving skills in order to generate and maintain departmental reportsMay be required to be clean shaven if trained in the use of and required to use a respiratorMust be capable and willing to work any shift and be on 24-hour call for emergency situations as necessaryThe employing subsidiaries of The Schwan Food Company are Equal Employment Opportunity EmployersAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to disability, age, race, color, religion, gender, vet status, national origin or other protected class.
